WHAT WE BELIEVE

About the Bible

We believe that the Bible, 66 books of the Old and New Testament, is the divinely inspired and inerrant word of God. Though human authors used languages, they were inspired and led by the Holy Spirit in their writing. Therefore, Scripture alone is the authoritative word of God, and the basis for everything we do at church.

2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness…

About the Nature of God

We believe that God is one God in Three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the Creator who has no beginning and no end; eternal, omnipotent, and omniscient. In His nature, He is love, holy, and righteous.

Revelation 22:13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

Matthew 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit...

About Jesus

We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, the Messiah, and the Savior of the world. Born of the virgin Mary, Jesus Christ is 100% man, and 100% God.

John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

About sin

We believe that all mankind, after the fall in the Garden of Eden, was born with a sinful nature. This sinful nature makes all of us sinners, and therefore, unable to enter heaven by our own deeds and morals. We believe that sin leads to spiritual death and separation from God, as well as an actual second death, where God righteously judges sinners by sending them to eternal punishment in hell.

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God...

About salvation

We believe that the only way to satisfy God’s righteous demand of punishment upon sinners is the substitutionary death of Jesus on the cross. Although Jesus was perfectly holy and sinless during His life on earth, He died on the cross bearing our sins, so that whoever believes in Him would not perish, but have eternal life. On the third day, He rose from the dead physically, conquering death, and is seated at the right hand of God.

As to how we receive this salvation personally: Jesus Himself said, “Repent and believe in the gospel.” We believe that salvation is through repentance and faith in Jesus. Repenting means to turn away from sin, and faith is to believe Jesus is who He is, and trusting His work on the cross to atone for our sins, not by our own deeds.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

About the church

We believe that Jesus established the church on earth, His bride, to glorify Him and expand His kingdom by sharing the good news of the kingdom, and leading more people to Jesus (the Great Commission). All who believe in Jesus are part of the invisible, global body of Christ, but in its visible, local form, all Christians are commanded to gather in local churches. We do so in order to worship God and serve Him and His people together.

Matthew 16:18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.

Hebrews 10:24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

About the future

We believe that Jesus will someday return to the earth and reign for a thousand years. We believe that all people will rise from the dead at the final judgment, and all who believed in God will enter the new heaven and new earth and enjoy eternal life, and all who did not believe will be in hell forever.

Hebrews 9:28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

Daniel 12:2 Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.
